[To say she hadn't expected this reaction was putting it a little too lightly. And while she won't disagree about Frey being an idiot (because sometimes it seemed like it), she knows he really is thinking about what's best for her. It was an expression of kindness she wasn't used to anymore, so that it happened made her very confused and unable to do much but agree and follow along his lead. ]

... It's not the experiments he's trying to protect me from...

Then what is it? Are you in trouble? Do you need help? [Why was he so worried all the sudden?] Are you okay?

And somewhere, far away, Frey feels less of a man for some reason. All because girly man Zan'nen and Kaori think he's an idiot.

That was sarcasm, idiot.

[After effectively emasculating Frey from afar, Kaori shifts about uncomfortably in her seat. It had been hard enough explaining everything about Legato to Frey, but explaining it to Zan'nen as well? And though she's not aware of it, he had been one of the voices she had heard him talking to that night.]

I... don't know, really...

[Zan'nen's been through enough in his world to guess that's not the complete truth.]

You don't know or you don't want to tell me?

... It's kinda both. [And now she'll need time to think about how she's going to tell him. While she had taken Frey to where it had happened, she was by no means ready to go back there again, especially so soon afterward.]

[Zan'nen paced back and forth, trying to spend some time thinking on what the best reaction to that statement would be. He checked the lock on the door, threw a coat that had been thrown on floor into his room.]

You don't have to tell me anything. I can get that.

But if you need help, then I...

[... She doesn't like this, that he's so upset. Was there anything she could do to help him somehow?]

... Do you remember, back in... February? My arm was still broken then...

... I remember. [Kaori, did you ever tell him how you broke that arm? Did someone do that to you?]

Well... [Her hands begin to clench into fists, the knuckles turning white while her nails begin to dig into the skin of her palms. Sometimes she thought she could still feel the pain of the injuries she'd received.]

It... wasn't an accident...

[Zan'nen dropped whatever train of thought he was intending on going with, and moved next to her., placing a hand on her shoulder gently.]

... Who hurt you? [He did a pretty good job of keeping his anger swallowed. Making sure Kaori was going to be alright was more important at the moment.]

[This was truly a hard thing for her to do, even if she does like Zan'nen. It was hard to admit that she had been taken advantage of that, and that before yesterday no one had known about what happened that night except for her, Wolfwood and Vash. It had been so hard to admit as much as she did to Frey alone.]

His name is Legato...

Legato? [Why does that name ring some sort of bell in his head?]

What did he do to you?

... He can control people's bodies, make them do what he wants and twist them in any way... [Please don't make her elaborate any more than that, the memory was still painful.]

[The hand on her shoulder tightened sharply, not meaning to be hurtful, just... What the hell? What the hell did he do to her? Controlling people's bodies?!]

... No one told me.

[Was he that pathetic? Did they think he wouldn't care? Why didn't he know?]

[Like it or not, Zan'nen, that tightening grip was unexpected and kind of hurt, so a small flinch escapes her control before she realizes it.]

... I never told anyone... until yesterday.

[Zan'nen releases his grip immediately. Shit. He didn't mean to hurt her on top of it too.] I'm sorry.

... It's okay... [She thinks so, anyway.]

I'm sorry I never said anything, but... [It still left her with the occasional nightmare, and afraid to roam around the southern side of the village for fear of it happening again.]

It's not okay! [He should have better control over himself, especially considering the circumstances.]

... But then what should I say? [This is a genuine question, Zan'nen; she's not sure what to do or say for this current situation.]
