Regret 009; [Written]

[A message appears in the journal, first a series of crossed out words and intelligible scribbles, then a harshly scrawled question. Someone seems to be having trouble finding the right words to express themselves today.]

What do you all do to- What happens when--

What do you do to take your mind off something? What are you supposed to do when there's something you just can't stop thinking about?

If there's any way to beat it out of me, that works too.

[Zan'nen's frown deepened. Such a stupid question, but the emptiness of his house was really weighing on his mind. The loss of his roommate, and everyone talking about being sent home and disappearing only made it more apparent. The kid he lived with was always so nervous, how the hell was he supposed to know if he was okay out there? Back on his world? Why wasn't their a way to find out?]

Also, I'd like to know who's still around that recognizes me, if anyone. I was gone for a while. So, hello to the rest of you too, I suppose. Anything major change recently I should know about?

[...]

That's it I guess.

Throw myself at the most high-risk scenarios I can cook up in the battle dome usually.

[identity profile] returninghope.livejournal.com 2011-10-18 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
High-risk, huh? What sorts of scenarios does that equate to?

[identity profile] sapphire-sniper.livejournal.com 2011-10-18 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
The lower chances for survival were it a real situation the better, basically.

Going through scout sniper scenarios is usually tied for first choice... but without the training I think they would be little more than exercises in frustration.

Well, that's more or less the point of snipers, now isn't it? If they couldn't aim well and quickly, they wouldn't be much good.

Sounds like you're pretty practiced in sniper situations. Is that something carried over from home?

Actually, the part of the drill that's best for losing yourself is the stealth required to reach a firing location.

Yeah- worked for a PMC back on Frontier.

Ah. I get it. [So he's a sniper then.] That does sound difficult.

Frontier the name of your planet, or country or whatever?

[identity profile] sapphire-sniper.livejournal.com 2011-10-18 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Colony fleet, actually. They've settled on a new planet not too long after I "left" for Luceti, but I don't know if they've given it a proper name.

[identity profile] returninghope.livejournal.com 2011-10-19 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
A new planet? What happened to the old one?

[identity profile] sapphire-sniper.livejournal.com 2011-10-19 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Earth is basically fine, though the primary purpose of the colony fleets is to give the human and zentradi populations room to grow.

An alien race, similar to humans in most respects. Not all that surprising though, considering we were both engineered by a now-extinct galaxy-spanning civilization.

Extinct? [Boy, did that bring up some bad memories. Galaxy-spanning civilization, huh?] WEre they killed off? Or did they die-out?
